As a Decision Scientist, you will be at the forefront of using data to solve business problems, improve processes, and drive Capitec’s AI and Machine Learning strategy. 🧠 Key Responsibilities

Translate business challenges into data science solutions
Develop predictive models using statistical and machine learning techniques
Drive AI/ML strategy to improve decision-making across business units
Extract, clean, model, and analyze large datasets to uncover actionable insights
Collaborate with stakeholders to define business requirements and deliver innovative solutions
Build, test, and deploy models in production environments
Work in cloud platforms like Azure or AWS
Create visual dashboards and reporting tools to communicate insights effectively

🎓 Required Qualifications & Experience

To be successful in this role, you must meet one of the following academic pathways:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Engineering, or Computer Science + 4+ years relevant experience
Honours Degree in a related field + 3+ years relevant experience
Master’s Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or Computer Science

🔍 Essential Skills & Knowledge

Deep understanding of data science lifecycle and its business applications
Strong programming and data manipulation skills (e.g., SQL, SAS)
Experience in predictive modeling, statistical methods, and ML tools
Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS)
Understanding of compliance and regulatory frameworks (e.g., NCR, POPIA, SARB)
Experience working in environments such as credit, risk, or customer analytics
Tools: Looker, Power BI, Python, R, Docker, Git, dbt (a plus)
