Rubicon is seeking a Service & Support Technician to join our team in Briardene, KwaZulu-Natal, playing a pivotal role in ensuring our customers receive top-notch after-sales support and technical assistance.

About the Role

As a Service & Support Technician, you will work closely with senior technicians and support engineers to handle day-to-day technical inquiries. Your expertise will ensure that customer tickets are addressed efficiently, technical issues are resolved, and our sales staff are well-supported with product-related queries. This role is key to maintaining Rubicon’s commitment to outstanding technical service.

Key Responsibilities

✅ Respond promptly to customer technical support requests via email, phone, or other channels.
✅ Attend customer sites locally, nationally, and internationally to:

  • Assist with commissioning of new systems.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot faulty equipment.

  • Resolve technical challenges efficiently.
    ✅ Collaborate with senior support engineers to resolve complex support cases.
    ✅ Support sales consultants with technical product information and queries.
    ✅ Liaise with factories and suppliers to address technical issues.
    ✅ Assist in diagnosing warranty claims and troubleshooting faulty components.
    ✅ Participate in creating technical documentation for new products.
    ✅ Attend supplier training sessions to stay up-to-date with new technologies.
    ✅ Work closely with national tech support teams to improve systems, resolve issues, and document serial issues.
    ✅ Support the R&D department with product specifications and development projects when needed.
    ✅ Regularly record and document activities in the company’s CRM system.

Minimum Requirements

✔️ Matric/NQF4 qualification or equivalent.
✔️ Electrical qualification (wireman’s licence highly advantageous).
✔️ 1-2 years of experience in technical support within electrical/power or critical reserve power environments (e.g., UPS, hybrid inverters).
✔️ A relevant technical diploma is beneficial.
✔️ Valid driver’s licence and access to own reliable vehicle.
