Role Purpose:
We are seeking a Shift Occupational Health Nurse to provide a comprehensive occupational healthcare program for our clients. This role is crucial to ensuring legal compliance while offering high-quality healthcare services. As a key member of our medical team, you will be responsible for maintaining and promoting employee health and safety within the workplace.
Key Responsibilities:
✔ Medical Surveillance & Screening:
- Implement and evaluate a risk-based medical surveillance program, including pre-employment, baseline, annual, transfer, and exit medical screenings.
- Manage and monitor activities related to occupational safety, health, and waste management.
✔ Injury and Emergency Response:
- Administer and follow up on Injury on Duty cases, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
- Respond to medical emergencies within the scope of practice.
✔ Employee Health & Wellness:
- Assist with worker integration after prolonged absence and identify chronic diseases early to manage and maintain productivity.
- Provide consultation, counseling, and referrals for employees when needed.
✔ Advisory & Compliance:
- Offer expert consultancy services to line management on absenteeism management, sick leave follow-ups, and occupational health matters.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health legislation.
✔ Occupational Health Management:
- Investigate and address client queries within agreed service levels and escalate when necessary.
- Identify, analyze, and monitor hazard exposure trends and implement preventive measures.
- Participate in internal and external audits to maintain quality standards.
✔ Administrative & Equipment Management:
- Oversee the ordering, housekeeping, and maintenance of occupational health services and equipment.
- Perform various administrative duties such as data capturing, document management, and record-keeping to ensure confidentiality and accessibility.
✔ Continuous Professional Development:
- Continuously develop your expertise in professional practices, industry trends, and legislative requirements related to occupational health.
Qualifications & Skills:
🎓 Essential Requirements:
- National Senior Certificate
- Degree/Diploma in Occupational Health Nursing
- Certificates in Audiology, Spirometry, and Vision Screening
- Valid Dispensing Certificate
- Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) in Occupational Health Nursing
- Valid registration with the South African Society of Occupational Health Nurses (SASOHN)
- Valid Driver’s License and insured vehicle
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Must be willing to work 12-hour shifts, alternating between day and night shifts, including weekends and public holidays
💡 Desirable Experience:
- Previous experience in Occupational Health Nursing is highly advantageous
- Strong understanding of the Health & Safety Act and relevant legislation
