The Senior Business Analyst plays a crucial role in bridging business needs and IT delivery, ensuring high-quality functional solutions and supporting Agile project delivery.

🎯 Key Purpose

  • Act as Product Owner between business and IT teams, translating features into well-defined user stories.

  • Lead requirement gathering and story mapping workshops.

  • Manage, refine, and prioritise the product backlog for Agile planning.

  • Support development processes and participate in all Agile events.

  • Conduct feasibility analysis, impact assessments, and prepare business reports.

  • Provide guidance to various business units and ensure high-quality deliverables.

🛠 Areas of Responsibility

Analysis:

  • Understand the big picture across users and systems.

  • Identify current state and required changes.

  • Provide solution-oriented, high-level and detailed analysis.

  • Challenge business assumptions constructively.

Quality Assurance:

  • Minimise developer rework by articulating clear business specifications.

  • Support development teams with clarification and feedback.

  • Map business changes to process diagrams and develop new processes as required.

  • Conduct post-implementation defect reviews.

Agile Methodology:

  • Design and validate functional solutions using Agile.

  • Translate product requirements into Epics, Stories, and Test Baskets.

  • Plan sprints, facilitate backlog grooming, and validate deliverables with stakeholders.

Administrative Tools:

  • Maintain Jira and Confluence updates.

  • Time capture via Devshed.

  • Participate in JAD sessions, daily stand-ups, and Agile ceremonies.

  • Analytical & conceptual thinking (Advanced)

  • Written and verbal communication (Advanced)

  • UML, prototyping, test management (Advanced)

  • Agile methodology (Intermediate)

  • Project management (Basic)

  • Systems and development understanding (Intermediate)

🎓 Education & Experience

  • Matric certificate.

  • Degree or Diploma in IT (Essential).

  • Business Analyst course (Essential).

  • Minimum Experience:

    • 5 years in Business Analysis

    • 1 year Insurance industry experience (Advantageous)

    • 4 years UML experience

    • 4 years screen prototyping experience

    • 4 years test and defect management tools experience
