🎯 Role Purpose

We are seeking a Senior Financial Accountant who will be responsible for leading core financial operations and ensuring accurate, timely reporting in line with IFRS and tax regulations. You’ll support internal and external audits, financial strategy, and mentor a team within a high-performance finance department.

✅ Key Responsibilities

📊 Reporting & Financial Oversight

• Prepare and review monthly management accounts and annual financial statements

• Analyse and present variance commentary and high-risk balance sheet reconciliations

• Review general ledger transactions for IFRS and tax compliance

• Ensure timeous financial backups and record-keeping (digital and physical)

🧾 Budgeting & Compliance

• Lead annual budgeting processes

• Ensure accurate VAT, payroll, and tax submissions

• Prepare taxation computations and manage provisional tax payments

• Manage internal/external/SARS/BEE audit processes and responses

• Oversee routine and complex transactions (e.g. depreciation, impairments, lease adjustments)

🧮 Internal Controls & Cash Flow

• Identify and implement improved financial controls

• Maintain accurate inter-company accounts and ensure timely settlements

• Support cash flow optimization and tax planning

• Assist in reviewing asset impairment and NRV provisioning

📋 Operational Excellence

• Conduct quarterly “mini audits” for supplier/customer rebates, discounts, and debit orders

• Manage accruals and provisions with trend-based estimations

• Review reconciliations of loans, creditors, instalments, and facilities

• Support Group Financial Manager (GFM), CFO, and CEO with data, financial models, and projects

👥 People Leadership & Culture

• Lead, mentor, and conduct performance reviews for junior finance team

• Develop KPIs and role clarity for direct reports

• Promote a culture of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability

• Encourage staff development, recognition, and retention

• Ensure conflict of interest declarations and ethical compliance

• Excellent knowledge of IFRS, tax laws, and financial systems

📚 Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 2+ years’ commercial accounting experience

• Proficiency in Pastel Evolution (or similar software)

• Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel essential)
