At The Haven Night Shelter, our mission is to provide comprehensive social services, rehabilitation, and care to adults living on the streets who are committed to reintegrating into society. We are currently looking for a Social Auxiliary Worker to join our team at Moira Henderson House, who will directly report to the Shelter Manager.

As a Social Auxiliary Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting the residents of our shelter through casework, client representation, and assisting with the development of annual social work service delivery plans. Key Responsibilities

🔹 Client Intake & Safety

  • Perform initial intake for clients, ensuring their safety and providing appropriate care.
  • Handle client representation and address individual needs as they arise.

🔹 Casework & Reporting

  • Develop and manage the annual social work service delivery plans for clients.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide regular reports on service delivery and client progress.

🔹 Group and Community Work

  • Facilitate group work sessions and contribute to community-based projects aimed at empowering residents.

🔹 Administrative & Public Relations

  • Assist with general administration, including managing pension paperwork and other related tasks.
  • Promote the shelter’s public relations by maintaining a positive image within the community and with external partners.

🔹 Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with other team members to ensure smooth operation of shelter activities.
  • Actively contribute to the overall well-being of the shelter and its residents.

Minimum Requirements

🔹 Qualifications

  • Social Auxiliary Work Certificate (essential).
  • Code 08 driver’s license (required).

🔹 Experience & Skills

  • Experience in the NGO sector is advantageous.
  • Strong ability to interact with clients from diverse backgrounds, including different cultures and religions.
  • Capable of managing conflict situations effectively.
  • Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office, MS Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must be in good health and possess a clear criminal record.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and confidentiality.
