Are you passionate about helping those in need? The Haven Night Shelter is seeking a compassionate and driven Social Auxiliary Worker to join our team at Moira Henderson House. In this vital role, you will directly contribute to improving the lives of homeless individuals by offering social services, casework, and care. This permanent position allows you to make a real difference in the lives of the people we serve, ensuring they receive the support they need on their journey to reintegration.

Key Responsibilities

As a Social Auxiliary Worker, you will be responsible for:
✔️ Client Intake & Safety: Manage the initial intake of clients, ensuring their safety and care.
✔️ Casework: Provide casework and client representation, supporting each individual’s journey to stability.
✔️ Social Service Delivery: Contribute to the Annual Social Work Service Delivery Plan and related reports.
✔️ Group and Community Work: Facilitate group work sessions to encourage client engagement and development.
✔️ Pension & Administration: Assist with pension management and general administration tasks.
✔️ Public Relations: Maintain positive public relations and interactions within the community.
✔️ Shelter Support: Contribute to the efficient functioning of shelter operations and support staff members.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the Social Auxiliary Worker role, you must meet the following criteria:
✔️ Qualification: Social Auxiliary Work Certificate.
✔️ Driver’s License: Code 08 driver’s license (essential).
✔️ Experience: Previous experience in the NGO sector is a plus.
✔️ Skills:

• Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage conflict situations effectively.
• Ability to work as part of a team and interact with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  ✔️ Health & Criminal Record: Good health and no criminal record.
  ✔️ Cultural Competency: Ability to engage with clients from diverse cultures and religions.

Salary and Benefits

💰 Salary Package: R7,000.00 per month
