The Department of Social Development, Western Cape Government, is offering an exciting opportunity for a qualified and registered Social Worker to join their committed team in Cape Town. This role focuses on older persons, providing vital support and social work services to vulnerable individuals and communities, and driving positive change in society.

🎯 Purpose of the Role

To promote social change, solve human relationship challenges, and empower communities—enhancing social well-being through intervention, development, and support services within the designated service delivery area.


✅ Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work (or equivalent qualification).

  • Registered with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) as a Social Worker.

  • Experience Requirements by Grade Level:

    • Grade 1: No experience required.

    • Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years relevant experience.

    • Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years relevant experience.

    • Grade 4: Minimum of 30 years relevant experience.


🛠️ Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver professional social work services to vulnerable individuals, families, and groups.

  • Monitor and evaluate NPO compliance with legislative and regulatory standards.

  • Support and respond to concerns raised regarding NPO performance or service delivery.

  • Drive Service Delivery Improvement Plans and ensure continuous improvement.

  • Stay abreast of developments in the field through Continuous Professional Development (CPD).

  • Perform full administrative and case management functions related to the role.
