Job Overview:
Are you a Masters of Social Work (MSW) professional looking for an opportunity to work in an innovative and supportive healthcare environment? Jefferson Health is seeking a skilled Social Worker/MSW to join our Adult Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit at Main Hospital-Cherry Hill.
In this vital role, you will provide expert social work services, performing psychosocial assessments, and offering counseling to patients and their families. You will help patients cope with emotional and psychological challenges related to their illness, chronic conditions, or terminal care. Working alongside a multidisciplinary healthcare team, you will play a key role in creating and implementing discharge plans that promote long-term health and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
✅ Psychosocial Assessment & Counseling:
- Conduct psychosocial assessments for patients and families.
- Provide counseling to help patients cope with new diagnoses, chronic illness, and palliative care needs.
✅ Collaborative Care:
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement comprehensive discharge plans.
- Assist patients and their families in managing the emotional and psychological aspects of illness.
✅ Crisis Intervention & Support:
- Offer timely support and crisis intervention to patients and families in distress.
- Provide guidance during emotional or difficult circumstances, ensuring patients’ mental health needs are met.
✅ Education & Resource Coordination:
- Educate patients and families on coping strategies and available community resources.
- Coordinate support for families affected by terminal illnesses or significant health changes.
✅ Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all patient interactions.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, legal, and regulatory requirements in all aspects of patient care.
Job Requirements:
🎓 Educational Requirements:
- Master’s of Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program is required.
🛠️ Experience & Licensure:
- Minimum of 2 years hospital-based social work experience.
- Active LSW (Licensed Social Worker) or LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) certification is required for New Jersey positions.
- LCSW is preferred for Pennsylvania positions.

- Ability to handle stressful situations and provide crisis intervention.
- Strong collaboration skills within a multidisciplinary team.
- In-depth understanding of psychosocial aspects of illness, health maintenance, and end-of-life care.
