About The Haven Night Shelter
The Haven Night Shelter is committed to supporting adults living on the streets, providing them with the necessary rehabilitation, family reunification services, and physical care to reintegrate them into society. We are looking for a qualified Social Worker who will contribute to this mission by offering critical social work services and assisting with personal development and exit plans for our clients.
As part of our team, you will directly report to the Shelter Manager and play a key role in the planning and development of services aimed at empowering individuals to rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society.
Key Responsibilities
🔹 Social Work Services
- Provide comprehensive social work services to clients, supporting their rehabilitation and reintegration processes.
- Develop and monitor Personal Development Plans (PDPs) and Exit Plans for clients.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and protect client information in accordance with legal requirements.
🔹 Group Work & Client Reviews
- Present and facilitate group work within the first three weeks of joining, with a commitment to at least 10 hours per week of group sessions.
- Conduct reviews of clients’ progress and exit plans, ensuring that the exit dates are adhered to.
🔹 Collaboration & Administration
- Work closely with the Shelter Manager to align with the shelter’s work program.
- Schedule and manage the reviews of clients’ Exit Plans and provide updates as needed.
- Utilize MS Outlook, MS Word, and Excel for administrative tasks and client tracking.
Minimum Requirements
🔹 Qualification
- Registered Social Worker with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
🔹 Experience & Skills
- A valid Code B driver’s license is essential (non-negotiable).
- Previous experience in managing Personal Development Plans and Exit Plans is required.
- Ability to conduct group work and facilitate up to 10 hours per week of group therapy or similar sessions.
- Prior experience in the NGO sector would be an advantage.
- Experience in protecting client information and maintaining confidentiality.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in an additional language would be beneficial.
- Strong computer literacy (MS Outlook, MS Word, Excel).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
