Job Overview

Capitec Bank is looking for an experienced Software Development Manager to provide strategic technical direction and lead multiple technical teams across the full product lifecycle. The role focuses on delivery excellence, innovation, people development, and continuous optimisation within agile environments.


Purpose of the Role

  • Provide strategic technical leadership across multiple development teams

  • Manage the end-to-end technical delivery of product features, enhancements, and maintenance

  • Drive efficiency, innovation, and continuous improvement

  • Develop and grow high-performing technical teams


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multiple software development teams

  • Own and deliver technical roadmaps aligned to business strategy

  • Oversee the full product lifecycle, including support and maintenance

  • Manage budgets and resource allocation

  • Guide teams using strong technical expertise and best practices

  • Set priorities and manage delivery across competing initiatives

  • Engage and influence key stakeholders across the business

  • Drive agile ways of working and continuous optimisation

  • Promote innovation and people development within teams


Qualifications

Minimum

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce or Information Technology (Computer Science)

Preferred

  • Honours Degree in Commerce or Information Technology (Computer Science)


Experience

Minimum

  • 5+ years’ experience in software development management

  • Proven experience leading teams in agile development environments

  • Experience crafting and managing delivery roadmaps

  • Budget management experience

  • Strong technical background to support and guide teams

  • Stakeholder engagement and relationship management experience

  • Proven leadership and influencing capability


Knowledge

Minimum

  • Product-specific functional knowledge (e.g. Credit or App platforms)

  • People management and development practices

  • Stakeholder management

  • Budgeting and accounting principles

  • Business analysis and design

  • Project management principles and methodologies

Preferred

  • Banking industry experience

  • Central Collections environment exposure

  • Capitec Bank systems and business model

  • Agile development principles

  • Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)


Skills

  • Communication and decision-making skills

  • Influencing and negotiation skills

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills

  • Strategic thinking and delivery focus
