Role Overview

The Software Engineer II role is suited to an experienced engineer capable of owning feature delivery across the codebase. The role requires independent problem-solving, collaboration with Product and Design teams, and contribution to improved engineering practices under guidance from senior peers.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and deliver new features from design through production

• Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software solutions

• Collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams

• Participate in code reviews and uphold engineering best practices

• Improve development, testing, and operational processes

• Engage with Product Management and Design to understand business needs

• Participate in on-call rotations and incident response

• Identify and reduce technical debt within assigned scope

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, IT, or a related field

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in software engineering

Technical Competencies

• Proficiency in at least one back-end or full-stack language (e.g. Python, Java, C++)

• Strong code reading, review, and comprehension skills

• Understanding of typed vs dynamic languages and compiled vs interpreted execution models

• Solid knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and complexity trade-offs

• Experience with scalable systems, APIs, authentication, and databases

• Exposure to distributed systems and cloud platforms (AWS advantageous)

• Understanding of monitoring, fault tolerance, and system reliability
