Job Overview

SITA, a global leader in air transport technology, is recruiting a Solution Engineer, Specialist based in Johannesburg, South Africa. SITA powers 95% of the world’s international airports and supports 2,500+ transport and government clients. This role sits at the core of SITA’s customer solutions strategy, enabling world-class airport operations, border management, and aviation technology.

You will join a high-performance team driving architecture, solution design, technical pre-sales, and technology planning across major airport and airline clients within the MEA region. Role Summary

The Solution Engineer, Specialist plays a strategic role in shaping SITA’s technical direction for customers across the Middle East & Africa (MEA). You will contribute to pre-sales engagements, develop solution designs, lead technical qualification processes, engage with vendors, and support commercial teams to deliver high-value proposals.

Working within a dynamic team reporting to the Head of Solution Engineering (Airports – MEA), your work directly influences customer partnerships, market expansion, and solution adoption.


Key Responsibilities

  • Own the technical qualification process and develop the technical components of customer proposals.

  • Design standard and complex solutions across multiple technologies, integrating internal and third-party systems where required.

  • Facilitate accurate, scalable designs that ensure Right the First Time (RFT) implementation and long-term operational support.

  • Promote SITA products by presenting current technologies, enhancements, and new solution offerings during customer meetings and workshops.

  • Guide colleagues through knowledge-sharing sessions, collaboration, and team development.

  • Mentor junior team members and coordinate the delivery of technical training and certifications.

  • Support sales and account teams during pre-contract phases through technical input, solution architecture, and guidance.

  • Participate in shaping account strategies, ensuring alignment with SITA’s long-term commercial objectives.

  • Collaborate with global and regional engineering teams to advance the design and execution of integrated airport IT solutions.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in IT, telecoms, or aviation technology within a technical pre-sales role.

  • Proven success delivering, communicating, and presenting technical solutions to enterprise customers.

  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to articulate technical designs in a client-facing context.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to influence non-technical stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with airport IT infrastructure is advantageous.

  • Proficiency in industry-standard tools such as PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio, and Power BI.

  • At least one major technical certification (e.g., CCIE, CCNP, CCDP, MCSE).
