Role Overview

As a Solutions Engineer, you will lead the technical components of the sales cycle for South African enterprise customers. Your mission is to understand customer challenges, position Splunk’s value, demonstrate capabilities, and guide organisations toward a successful technical win.

This is a strategic, client-facing role requiring technical depth, strong communication, solution positioning, and relationship-building across diverse enterprise environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate Splunk’s products, solutions, and platform capabilities through onsite sessions, remote demos, webinars, and industry events.

  • Maintain and strengthen technical relationships across all stages of the sales cycle.

  • Respond to technical and functional components of RFIs and RFPs.

  • Travel up to 50% to support customer engagements and onsite discovery.

  • Collaborate with sales teams to execute strategy, overcome technical barriers, and close opportunities.

  • Diagnose customer pain points and translate them into value-driven solutions.

  • Provide clear written communication in emails, reports, proposals, and technical documentation.

  • Present Splunk’s capabilities to both technical and business audiences with confidence and clarity.

  • Address objections, answer advanced technical questions, and drive discussions to successful outcomes.

  • Work with pre-sales leadership to improve processes, methodologies, and technical playbooks.

  • Support marketing initiatives, events, and pipeline-generation activities by representing Splunk as a technical expert.

  • Build customer champions by helping them understand Splunk’s ability to solve critical security, observability, and resilience challenges.

Technical Requirements

  • Strong understanding of cloud computing models, migrations, architectures, and born-in-the-cloud environments.

  • Cloud certification required (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

  • Experience in Security, SecOps, or DevOps environments.

  • Knowledge of modern and traditional architecture frameworks.

  • Ability to script or code using Python, Bash, Ruby, or similar tools.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent work experience.

  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP or ITIL are beneficial.

  • Ability to travel 50% across South Africa.
