Job Overview

The SP Locum English Teacher (Maternity Cover) will adopt a holistic approach to student development, promoting both academic progress and personal well-being.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging English lessons, foster a positive learning environment, and uphold the professional and academic standards of the school. This role requires strong classroom management, curriculum delivery expertise, and a commitment to continuous professional development.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English lessons

• Create a nurturing and motivating classroom environment

• Maintain professional standards in punctuality and conduct

• Evaluate and refine teaching practices

• Participate in ongoing professional development initiatives

• Teach additional lessons when required (two afternoons per week)

• Develop high-quality academic resources

• Respond to parent communications within 24 hours

• Attend school events as required by the Head of School

• Set and mark assessments and examinations

• Prepare academic reports and comments

• Undertake additional reasonable duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education

Essential:

• University degree in English or relevant subject

• Certified Teaching Status

• Active and current SACE registration

• Appropriate right to work in South Africa

Experience

Essential:

• Minimum 5 years’ teaching experience in a school environment

Desirable:

• Experience within a premium or independent school environment
