About the Programme
Join Standard Bank’s Behavioural Economics Graduate Programme and help shape customer behaviour through data-driven insights and behavioural science. This 12-month rotational programme allows you to apply behavioural insights across Analytics, Digital, Product, Marketing, and Channel teams, developing strategies that drive both customer success and commercial impact.
In this role, you will research global best practices, design behavioural interventions, and conduct live experimentation to improve customer financial wellbeing, credit performance, and banking experiences. You’ll work cross-functionally with teams across the bank to implement innovative, behaviour-driven solutions.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Research & Analysis: Explore global best practices and emerging behavioural science trends to inform banking strategies.
✅ Customer Insights & Experimentation: Conduct live field experiments to test behavioural hypotheses and drive better customer outcomes.
✅ Intervention Design & Implementation: Develop nudges and behavioural interventions that improve savings rates, credit performance, and customer engagement.
✅ Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with product, marketing, analytics, and digital teams to integrate behavioural insights into banking operations.
✅ Presentation & Reporting: Share insights, experiment results, and recommendations with senior stakeholders.
Who Should Apply?

✔ Honours or Master’s degree in:
- Economics
- Psychology
- Cognitive Science
- Neuroscience
- Organisational Behaviour
- Decision Making
- Sociology
- Business Science
- Marketing
- Econometrics
✔ South African citizenship
✔ Less than 24 months of work experience
✔ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills
✔ Interest in human behaviour, decision-making, and financial services
