The City of Eagan is on the lookout for a dedicated Street Maintenance Worker to join its vibrant Public Works team. Key Responsibilities:

Perform repairs and maintenance on asphalt and gravel road surfaces, including patching, overlays, and crack sealing.

Operate specialized equipment such as pavers, melters, loaders, and distributors.

Conduct concrete work: repair and replace curbs, sidewalks, and flatwork using jackhammers, concrete saws, and other tools.
-
Manage street cleaning, ditch and boulevard maintenance, storm sewer upkeep, mowing, and tree trimming/removal.

Lead snow and ice removal efforts using trucks and other heavy equipment.
-
Handle minor vehicle, building, and grounds maintenance; assist in construction/refurbishment projects as needed.

Install, maintain, and replace street signs, traffic control signs, and pavement markings.

Keep accurate records of maintenance tasks.
-
Respond to emergency call-outs and be available for shift adjustments and extended hours as needed.

Follow strict safety procedures and regulations, wearing appropriate PPE at all times.
Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
-
Minimum of 3 years’ experience operating street maintenance, paving, snow plowing, or general construction equipment.
-
Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brake and tank endorsements.
-
Ability to obtain a Class A CDL within 180 days of hire.

Proficiency in vehicle/equipment operation and understanding of maintenance techniques.

Strong knowledge of occupational hazards and safety best practices.

Good communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Basic math, computer literacy (Microsoft Office, GIS knowledge a plus).
Desirable Extras:
-
Vocational training in heavy equipment operation, construction, or maintenance.
-
Completion of APWA-Minnesota Public Works Certificate Program or Leadership Academy.
-
5 years of experience in asphalt maintenance and repair.
-
5 years of concrete work experience (curbs, sidewalks, flatwork).
Working Conditions:
-
Regular hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (subject to change based on departmental needs).

High teamwork (80%) with some independent work (20%).
-
Physical demands include sitting, using hand tools, lifting, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
