Job Overview

The Structural Engineer (Pr Eng) will lead complex structural engineering projects across sectors including aviation, hospitality, healthcare, commercial, and residential developments.

This role requires a highly experienced Professional Engineer registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) who can manage multidisciplinary engineering assignments, mentor junior engineers, and provide strategic technical leadership.

The successful candidate will work closely with project teams and clients to deliver safe, efficient, and innovative structural solutions.


Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership

  • Lead structural engineering projects with significant scope and complexity.

  • Coordinate engineering activities across multidisciplinary project teams.

Structural Design & Analysis

  • Apply advanced structural analysis and design principles.

  • Deliver structural designs for steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and foundation systems.

Technical Oversight

  • Provide technical guidance and quality assurance across projects.

  • Ensure designs comply with structural codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represent the company during client meetings and industry forums.

  • Support business development through proposal preparation and presentations.

Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing

  • Mentor junior engineers and support professional development.

  • Contribute to internal technical knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Engineering Project Support

  • Conduct feasibility studies and structural design assessments.

  • Supervise infrastructure and building projects across different sectors.


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BSc Eng / BEng / MSc Eng).

Professional Registration

  • Registered Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) with the Engineering Council of South Africa.

Experience

  • 10+ years of structural engineering experience.

  • Experience managing large-scale infrastructure and building projects.

  • Experience in sectors such as universities, hotels, commercial buildings, and residential developments.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.

  • Ability to interpret complex engineering documentation and coordinate with stakeholders.

Technical Tools

  • Proficiency in structural design software such as:

    • ETABS

    • SAP2000

    • SAFE

    • RISA

    • Revit

    • AutoCAD

Additional Knowledge

  • Familiarity with international structural standards including:

    • IBC

    • ACI

    • AISC

    • ASCE
