About the Role: Sub Accountant

Are you a detail-oriented professional with strong accounting knowledge and a passion for accurate financial operations? Vector Logistics is hiring a Sub Accountant to join our Gauteng-based finance team. You’ll play a vital role in consolidating supplier payments, reconciling accounts, and maintaining financial accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cashbook Control & Reconciliations

• Process EFT payment requests, ensuring authority, documentation, and GL allocations are correct.

• Capture payments and journal entries in SAP for Head Office.

• Set up EFT payments via SAP and Online Banking.

• Clear bank clearing accounts and resolve unallocated deposits.

• Process debit orders and allocate daily branch deposits.

• Manage and reconcile the Head Office petty cash box.

• Process and verify foreign payments, ensuring all documentation is accurate and approved.

• Generate cash forecasting reports and escalate significant variances.

• Reconcile staff debtor accounts and handle national Telkom account payment preparation.

2. Journal Entries & Reporting

• Prepare, capture, and post ad-hoc journal entries.

• Create general ledger journal entries in collaboration with the GL and Financial Accountant.

3. Teamwork & Self-Management

• Take ownership of daily tasks with precision and professionalism.

• Maintain consistent quality and productivity standards.

• Communicate delays or risks proactively and contribute to solutions.

• Collaborate effectively with colleagues and contribute to team success.

• Support training initiatives and pursue personal development opportunities.

• Engage in regular performance reviews and goal-setting discussions.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Timely resolution of outstanding items

• Accuracy in account reconciliations

• Delivery of tasks within defined deadlines

• Effective ledger account management

Minimum Requirements

• Matric with a tertiary qualification in Accounting

• Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting experience

• Proficiency in SAP R/3 preferred

• Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)

• Strong communication, numerical, and analytical thinking skills
