About the Role
Amazon is searching for a talented Systems Development Engineer (SETA) to join our dynamic AWS Frontline Support team. In this hands-on engineering role, you will build and maintain tooling and automation that AWS Support engineers rely on daily to resolve customer issues quickly and effectively. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge generative AI, machine learning, and cloud technologies in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
As a Systems Development Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of technical solutions that solve complex problems at scale, drive automation, and enhance system reliability across AWS services globally.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the architecture, design, and delivery of innovative tooling and automation solutions.

Drive continuous improvement through automation and refactoring existing processes, incorporating AI/ML advancements.

Ensure scalability, performance, and security of the tools and systems under your ownership.

Analyze tool usage and system metrics to identify areas for improvement and risk mitigation.

Collaborate across teams to review system designs, conduct post-incident analysis, and implement operational best practices.

Mentor and support fellow engineers, contributing to a culture of learning and technical excellence.

Participate in on-call rotations to respond to incidents and maintain service uptime.
What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)

Minimum 3 years professional software development experience.
-
3+ years experience in systems engineering, including networking, storage, and operating systems administration.

Proficient in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, C++, Go, or PowerShell.

Experience designing scalable, reliable systems and implementing automation at scale.

Solid understanding of systems engineering fundamentals including networking and storage architectures.
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Experience with front-end languages (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) is a plus.

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and build automation.

Experience automating and supporting large-scale infrastructure deployments.

The SysDev Engineering, Tooling & Automation (SETA) team focuses on creating internal tooling and automation to support AWS Support Customers and internal teams worldwide. This role provides broad exposure across AWS technologies and requires creativity, collaboration, and a passion for solving complex technical challenges.
