Tectra Automation is currently seeking a dynamic and ambitious Systems Engineer – Estimator to join our team. 📝 Key Responsibilities:

As a Systems Engineer – Estimator, your core responsibilities will include:

  • Cost Estimation: Translating Bills of Materials (BOM) into costing tools and optimizing supplier pricing for BOM items.
  • Design Understanding: A strong grasp of mechanical and electrical design principles to generate accurate costings for automation systems.
  • Collaboration: Working alongside production and project managers during procurement, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning phases.
  • Customer Communication: Direct interaction with customers regarding project scope, specifications, and generating quotes for their requests.
  • Documentation & Updates: Keeping project technical files up-to-date with revised costings and BOM revisions.
  • Sales Support: Assisting the sales team with customer technical requests.

🎓 Minimum Requirements:

To be considered for the Systems Engineer – Estimator position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics (optional but beneficial).
  • Tertiary qualification in Estimation or Costing is an advantage.
  • Matric with strong mathematics.
  • Knowledge of Pneumatics and automation technologies such as Robotics, PLC, Drives, Servos, etc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a relevant design environment.

📊 Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle large datasets.
  • Ability to generate accurate quotations based on customer specifications.
  • High level of computer literacy, particularly in Excel and costing tools.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with clients and internal teams.
