🔎 About the Role

Hungry Lion is searching for a proactive, analytical, and entrepreneurial technologist to take complete ownership of the day-to-day technical maintenance and support of the Hungry Lion tech stack.
This is a high-autonomy, high-impact role designed for someone passionate about optimising systems, solving complex problems, and freeing up core development capacity.

You will manage technical operations, maintain key systems, refine analytical models, and provide fast, reliable support for one of our most important internal clients — ensuring seamless performance across our data, dashboards, and operational tools.

This role is ideal for a tech professional who wants to grow into a future Technology Lead or CTO within a rapidly expanding company.

🧩 Key Responsibilities (First 6–12 Months)

🛎️ Alerting System Management

  • Build, test, and deploy new monitoring and alerting rules using BigQuery + Cloud Monitoring.

  • Improve accuracy and reduce false alerts.

📊 Store Scorecard Refinement

  • Improve scoring logic and add new metrics.

  • Fix data quality issues and enhance reliability of performance scorecards.

🔍 Fault & Incident Root Cause Analysis

  • Lead investigations when performance drops or alerts fire.

  • Document findings and deploy permanent solutions.

👥 User & Access Management

  • Manage IAM profiles, audit trails, and security permissions in BigQuery, Looker, and internal tools.

🔧 Ad-Hoc Technical Analysis

  • Respond to urgent operational queries using SQL and Python.

  • Provide data-driven insights to guide decision-making.

📈 BI Dashboard Maintenance

  • Maintain and enhance dashboards in Looker, Power BI, Metabase, etc.

  • Ensure dashboards are fast, accurate, and visually clean.

🧪 Real-World Operational Testing

  • Deploy new features into the live retail environment.

  • Test performance, measure impact, and optimise quickly.

🗓️ Monthly Reporting

  • Own the monthly technical performance report.

  • Automate reporting processes and present results to stakeholders.

🛠️ Required Technical Skills & Experience

  • Advanced SQL (BigQuery strongly preferred)

  • Python with pandas + scripting experience

  • BigQuery mastery (partitioning, clustering, cost optimisation, etc.)

  • Experience maintaining BI dashboards (Looker preferred)

  • Understanding of alerting/monitoring in GCP or AWS

  • 2–5 years supporting large enterprise clients or internal business units

  • Proven ability to manage technical relationships
