π― Role Overview
The Temp GL Accountant Assistant will provide hands-on support to the Africa Accounting Shared Service team in Cape Town. This role offers early-career accounting professionals the chance to gain practical experience in a global organization. You will assist with general ledger operations, reconciliations, month-end close, intercompany accounting, and statutory reporting across multiple African regions.
π οΈ Key Responsibilities
π General Accounting Support

Gather, prepare, and file documentation for accounting and audit purposes.

Support reconciliations, audit samples, and external auditor requests.
π³ Accounts Receivable & Payable
-
Reconcile AR/AP accounts and balance the GL to sub-systems.

Process payments and reconcile supplier statements using ERP systems.
π Intercompany Accounting

Collect IC invoices, document accruals, and reconcile IC balances.

Assist with AP and payment applications in ERP.
π’ Fixed Assets & Lease Accounting

Ensure alignment between the GL and Fixed Asset/Lease sub-systems.
π General Ledger & Month-End Reporting

Prepare journal entries and maintain balance sheet reconciliations.

Support month-end close, compile financial schedules, and assist with ad hoc analysis.
π Statutory Reporting & Compliance

Assist with statutory and tax audit preparation.

Support internal control (SOX) documentation and IFRS audit processes.
π Minimum Requirements
β Skills & Competencies

Strong understanding of accounting principles and attention to detail.

Analytical, organized, and able to work independently under deadlines.

Effective communicator and collaborative team player.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

Fluent in English; French is a plus.
π Education & Experience

Bachelorβs degree in Accounting/Finance (third year or higher), Honours is a plus.

1β2 yearsβ experience in accounting, administrative, or financial analysis roles.
