The Haven Night Shelter is offering an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Social Work Supervisor to join our team. This 12-month contract role reports directly to the CEO and plays a key role in supervising and guiding a team of social workers, social auxiliary workers, and volunteers. The supervisor will ensure the effective delivery of social work services at the shelter and with partner NGOs funded by the Families program of the Department of Social Development. These organizations focus on family reunification, physical care, and preventing the disintegration of family life.

In this role, you will oversee the work of social work staff, provide professional support, and advocate for best practices in social reintegration and family strengthening. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic, experienced Social Work professional to contribute to meaningful social change.

Key Responsibilities

As the Temporary Social Work Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:
✔️ Supervise & Advise: Provide professional and general supervision to social workers, social auxiliary workers, and social worker volunteers.
✔️ Quality Control: Monitor and ensure the quality of work delivered by supervisees.
✔️ Performance Management: Support performance management, conduct disciplinary actions, and assist supervisees with occupational stress.
✔️ Training & Development: Ensure that supervisees are continuously trained, developed, and mentored to deliver high-quality social work services.
✔️ Stakeholder Reporting: Ensure all requirements outlined in Transfer Payment Agreements, organizational directives, and third-party contracts are met and accurately reported.
✔️ Best Practices Advocacy: Be an advocate for best practices in the field of social reintegration and family strengthening.

Minimum Requirements

To apply for the Temporary Social Work Supervisor role, you must meet the following criteria:
✔️ Qualification: A qualified Social Worker registered with SACSSP in South Africa.
✔️ Experience: At least 7 years of work experience in social work.
✔️ Driver’s License: A valid Code 08 driver’s license (non-negotiable).
✔️ Skills:

• Computer literacy in MS Outlook, MS Word, and Excel.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience in the NGO sector is an advantage.
• Training or experience in Supervision will be beneficial.
  ✔️ Attributes: Ability to work well in a team, excellent communication skills, and a passion for social work.

Salary and Benefits

💰 Salary Package: R21,000.00 per month
🕰️ Job Type: 12-Month Fixed Term Contract
