About the Internship:
As a Trainee Train Assistant, you will play a crucial support role to the Train Driver, ensuring the safe, timely, and efficient operation of trains across various services, including freight, passenger, heavy-haul, and high-speed trains. This internship is an excellent platform to gain deep industry insights and the practical skills needed for a long-term railway career.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of locomotives, conducting brake tests and essential pre-trip inspections

• Participate in shunting and siding operations to position rolling stock effectively

• Monitor train safety throughout journeys and report any incidents promptly

• Provide administrative support by maintaining detailed train journals

• Ensure strict compliance with all Transnet safety protocols and operational procedures

Minimum Requirements:
To be considered, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Grade 12 (Matric) certificate with Pure Mathematics and/or Physical Science

• Minimum height requirement: 1.6 meters

• Must be 21 years or older by September 2025

• Good physical and mental health (medical assessment mandatory)

• Successful completion of the Vienna Testing System assessment (psychomotor ability)

• Willingness to undergo extensive training, both theoretical and practical

• Must reside in or near Ermelo

• Strong psychomotor coordination and concentration skills

• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and under pressure
