Job Overview

The Transport Manager is responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and cost-effective transportation of students and staff. The role involves managing school bus operations, scheduling routes, coordinating drivers, maintaining vehicles, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

The position plays a critical role in ensuring that daily transport operations run smoothly while maintaining high safety standards for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of school buses and other transport vehicles

• Plan and optimise bus routes for timely and safe pick-up and drop-off

• Ensure all vehicles comply with transport safety regulations and inspection requirements

• Coordinate vehicle maintenance schedules, servicing, and repairs

• Monitor fuel usage and maintenance expenses to support cost control

• Maintain accurate records for vehicle usage, driver attendance, incidents, and fuel consumption

• Manage emergency response procedures for breakdowns, delays, or accidents

• Communicate with parents, staff, and transport vendors regarding transport operations

• Ensure vehicle cleanliness and operational readiness at all times

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field

Experience

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in transport operations

• Experience in school or institutional transport management preferred

Skills

• Strong organisational and leadership skills

• Knowledge of Hyderabad road networks and routes

• Experience using GPS tracking systems and route management software

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools

• Strong communication skills to coordinate with parents, staff, and drivers

• Ability to manage transport schedules and resolve operational issues
