Job Overview

Feedem Catering is recruiting a Vending Assistant to manage customer transactions, vending machine operations, and cash handling. The successful candidate will ensure accurate processing of payments, maintain vending stock levels, and deliver efficient, customer-focused service within a catering environment.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage customer transactions using cash registers

  • Accurately scan goods and ensure correct pricing

  • Collect payments (cash and card) and issue receipts, refunds, and change

  • Track all cash and credit transactions

  • Maintain accurate balance sheets and report discrepancies

  • Ensure vending and restaurant areas are fully stocked for event days

  • Distribute vending tickets to vendors, prep staff, and food runners

  • Maintain clean, organised, and tidy vending and checkout areas

  • Monitor vending machine stock and functionality


Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Cashier or Vending Assistant

  • 2–5 years’ experience in a catering or food service environment


Skills & Competencies

  • Basic maths skills with strong cash-handling accuracy

  • Ability to track inventory and transactions precisely

  • Strong teamwork and cooperation skills

  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently when required

  • Enthusiastic, service-oriented attitude

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Reliable, organised, and detail-oriented
