Job Overview

Feedem Catering is recruiting a Vending Assistant to manage customer transactions, vending machine operations, and cash handling. The successful candidate will ensure accurate processing of payments, maintain vending stock levels, and deliver efficient, customer-focused service within a catering environment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Manage customer transactions using cash registers
Accurately scan goods and ensure correct pricing
Collect payments (cash and card) and issue receipts, refunds, and change
Track all cash and credit transactions
Maintain accurate balance sheets and report discrepancies
Ensure vending and restaurant areas are fully stocked for event days
Distribute vending tickets to vendors, prep staff, and food runners
Maintain clean, organised, and tidy vending and checkout areas
Monitor vending machine stock and functionality

Minimum Requirements

Education

Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent

Experience

Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Cashier or Vending Assistant
2–5 years’ experience in a catering or food service environment

Skills & Competencies

Basic maths skills with strong cash-handling accuracy
Ability to track inventory and transactions precisely
Strong teamwork and cooperation skills
Ability to follow instructions and work independently when required
Enthusiastic, service-oriented attitude
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Reliable, organised, and detail-oriented
