Job Overview

The Wages Clerk is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for employees, including wage calculations, deductions, and compliance with labour laws.

This role also supports operational efficiency through timekeeping systems (SACO), reporting, and employee administration, making it ideal for candidates with strong payroll experience and attention to detail.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process payroll including wages, deductions, bonuses, and timesheets
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with labour laws and tax regulations
  • Monitor and manage SACO timekeeping system
  • Load new employees and manage terminations/offboarding
  • Track absenteeism and generate daily and monthly reports
  • Capture and manage leave records
  • Handle payroll queries and resolve discrepancies
  • Coordinate temporary staff onboarding and scheduling
  • Monitor overtime and ensure correct payroll processing
  • Assist with payroll audits and reporting
  • Provide user support and training on payroll systems

Qualifications

Education

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • National Diploma in HRM, Finance, or Payroll-related qualification

Experience

  • 3–5 years payroll experience
  • Experience working with timekeeping/payroll systems (e.g., SACO)

Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in payroll/accounting software and Excel
  • Good mathematical and analytical ability
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee information
  • Customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
