🌟 Position Overview: Waiter
As a Waiter onboard a Viking ship, you’ll play a vital role in delivering outstanding dining experiences. You’ll lead your service station, supervise Assistant Waiters and Café Attendants, and ensure all guest expectations are exceeded—consistently upholding Viking’s high standards.
🧾 Key Responsibilities

Supervise, control, and organize assigned service stations

Lead a team of 2–4 Assistant Waiters or Café Attendants
-
Handle reservations and room service dispatch as instructed
-
Present and explain menu items and wine pairings knowledgeably
-
Serve food and beverages efficiently in accordance with Viking’s STAR standards
-
Execute F&B events such as cocktail parties and themed evenings
-
Ensure sanitation and cleanliness in all working areas
-
Maintain mise-en-place readiness 15 minutes before each service
-
Participate in onboard events, safety drills, and embarkation duties
-
Secure all equipment and stock, particularly during rough weather
✅ Requirements & Qualifications
-
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Waiter in premium hospitality settings
-
Proven knowledge of food, wine, and allergy protocols
-
Previous shipboard experience is highly preferred
-
Physically fit: able to lift heavy items and stand for long hours
-
Fluent in English with excellent communication skills
-
Impeccable grooming and hygiene standards

Positive attitude, flexibility, and guest-focused demeanor
-
Familiarity with health and safety policies, including Public Health protocols

Reports to: Restaurant Manager / Head Waiter

Supervises: Assistant Waiters / Café Attendants

Receives Instructions From: Hotel General Manager, Executive Chef, Sommelier
