About the Role
Are you passionate about youth protection and eager to gain practical experience in the field? William Schrikker Youth Protection & Youth Probation is looking for an Intern Youth Protection Officer to join our team in Flevoland, Netherlands. This unique internship opportunity is ideal for 3rd-year students studying Pedagogy, Social Work, or Applied Psychology with a focus on youth.
Starting in September 2025, this internship will provide you with a comprehensive, hands-on learning experience in youth protection, allowing you to make a real difference in the lives of children and families. You will work closely with experienced Youth Protection Officers and gain exposure to all facets of the profession.
Key Responsibilities
During your internship, you will be involved in the following activities:
- Conduct Family Visits: Work with a colleague to visit families, youth, and network partners to assess situations and ensure the safety and wellbeing of children.
- Assist in Report Writing: Help prepare reports and statements for court cases related to child protection.
- Participate in Team Meetings: Attend case discussions, team meetings, and consultations with chain partners to collaborate on youth protection measures.
- Plan Youth Protection Measures: Assist in organizing, arranging, and monitoring safety agreements and youth protection measures.
- Emergency Response Coordination: Help coordinate emergency response processes to ensure swift action is taken when necessary.
- Supervision and Support: Receive ongoing coaching and guidance from your internship supervisor to help you succeed in your role.
What Will You Learn?
- In-depth Knowledge: Gain a deep understanding of youth protection services, youth legislation, and the work of a Youth Protection Officer.
- Case Management: Learn how to coordinate, supervise, and evaluate cases related to youth protection.
- Professional Development: Develop skills in writing official reports, managing complex cases, and interacting with various stakeholders such as social services, families, and legal authorities.
Who Are We Looking For?
We are looking for an intern who:
- Is studying Social Work, Pedagogy, or Applied Psychology with a Youth profile.
- Has an interest in youth protection, with an understanding of or willingness to learn about youth legislation and regulations.
- Is available for a minimum of 32 hours per week starting September 2025.
- Has a basic understanding of working with children and youth, especially those with intellectual disabilities or chronic illnesses.
- Possesses strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Can work independently and handle responsibilities with confidence.
- Demonstrates respect for others and views feedback as an opportunity for growth.
