Requirements

An appropriate relevant three-year qualification at NQF level 6/7 (Bachelor's degree / three-year National diploma) in Community Development/Social Science/ Developmental Studies/Youth Development/Public Administration/ Education. Minimum of 10 years recognisable, practical experience in community development after obtaining the required qualification, ideally with a minimum of three (3) years' experience at Assistant Manager Community Development level. A valid driver's license and willingness to conduct site visits in urban and rural communities.

Duties

Manage the identification, facilitation, and implementation of integrated development interventions in partnership with the community and other relevant stakeholders through the efficient, effective, economical utilisation of resources by the sub directorate. Monitor, interpret, review legislation and policies to determine whether these prescripts are still relevant and comply with current requirements. Develop proposals to amend / maintain the relevant acts and policies and develop new policies where required.

The incumbent will promote youth entrepreneurship and cooperative initiatives, skills development programmes, linking youth with socio-economic opportunities and ensure programmes align with national and provincial policies. Manage the sub directorate to ensure that an efficient and effective community development service is delivered through the proper utilisation of human, financial and physical resources. Keep up to date with new developments in the community development and management field to enhance service delivery. Plan and ensure that research on youth community development is undertaken. Undertake / facilitate complex youth development research to meet the community needs.
