The role

Responsible for providing Seriti with independent legal support and advice to ensure legal risks are identified and managed in accordance with the strategy and commercial objectives of Seriti.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to

Provide professional, independent and accurate legal advice to business stakeholders on commercial, contractual, regulatory and operational matters

Advise functional clients on strategic and complex commercial issues, dispute resolution and legal implications of business decisions

Support the Legal Manager in managing Seriti's Material Legal Risks and implementing appropriate mitigation measures

Identify legal risks impacting the business and provide recommendations to manage and reduce exposure

Ensure legal advice aligns with Seriti's commercial objectives, legal strategy and governance requirements

Provide legal support to the Procurement Team on the procurement of goods and services

Draft, review, negotiate and interpret commercial agreements and contractual documentation

Advise on contractual obligations, risk allocation and dispute avoidance mechanisms

Develop and maintain standard contract templates and legal documentation to support business requirements

Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, Seriti standards and governance frameworks

Support the development and execution of the Legal and Compliance strategy aligned to Seriti's Group Strategy

Establish, build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Prepare legal reports, updates and management information as required

Provide input into reporting frameworks, templates and legal documentation standards

Maintain accurate legal records and documentation in accordance with company requirements

Support the Legal Manager with administrative and reporting requirements within the Legal Function

Requirements

BA or BCom (or similar undergraduate degree)

A minimum of 3 years' post admission experience in a law firm or corporate legal department

Experience in resources, commercial and dealing with large corporate entities

Experience managing legal issues and solutions

Experience in a corporate environment

Working knowledge of relevant South African legislation in respect of mineral regulation

Working knowledge of procurement/supply agreements and processes

Knowledge of applicable Seriti policies, procedures, and standards

An understanding of mining operations

Knowledge of Corporate Governance processes

Knowledge and understanding of Contract Law

Understanding of Mining Industry in South Africa

Computer literacy (MS Office Suite)

Valid driver's license

In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness

Advantageous:
