The role
A mining operator at a coal mine plays a crucial role in supporting the overall mining operations and ensuring the efficient extraction of coal. Working under the supervision of experienced miners and engineers, the mining assistant carries out various tasks to contribute to the smooth functioning of the mine.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to
Operate small or large Mining Machinery
Assist in maintaining good housekeeping standards in Mining area
Working at heights & in confined spaces
Perform any other duties in and around your area of work as per operational requirement
Identifying faults without supervision
Requirements
Grade 10 (Mathematics or Math Literacy, and English)
Minimum 2 years working experience in Opencast Mining and as per multiskilling license requirement/agreement
Must be willing & able to be trained on various mining machinery
High regard for safety regulations, policies, and standards with an excellent safety record
Have a sound knowledge of safety systems and standards
Have the ability to read, write and communicate in English
Must be prepared to do a practical driving assessment and be deemed competent
Must be willing to undergo a behavioural assessment
Be able to cope with pressure in a production environment
Be prepared to work overtime & shifts as required
Must not be afraid to work at heights or of large machinery
Must be able to work in a team
Must have a valid K53 driver's license
In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness
Advantageous:
Previous Mining or Earthmoving experience
