Job Overview
The Assistant HR Manager at Arealytics supports the COO and Operations Manager in delivering efficient and compliant HR services across the Cape Town Research Office and global teams.
This is a hands-on HR generalist role, covering operations, recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and performance management, ensuring alignment with business objectives and South African labour legislation.
Key Responsibilities
HR Operations & Administration
- Support implementation of HR policies and procedures
- Maintain accurate employee records in line with POPIA
- Manage HR documentation, contracts, and onboarding processes
- Assist with payroll coordination and benefits administration
Recruitment & Talent Management
- Assist with full recruitment lifecycle (advertising, screening, interviews)
- Coordinate onboarding and induction programmes
- Support talent development and succession planning
Employee Relations
- Act as a first point of contact for HR-related queries
- Support disciplinary processes, grievances, and conflict resolution
- Ensure consistent and fair application of HR policies
Performance Management
- Support performance appraisal processes
- Assist with Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs)
- Track and report employee performance metrics
Compliance & Labour Law
- Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation (BCEA, LRA, EE Act, Skills Development Act)
- Support Employment Equity reporting and audits
- Assist with B-BBEE and skills development initiatives
Training & Development
- Identify training needs and coordinate learning initiatives
- Support WSP and ATR submissions
- Promote continuous learning culture
HR Reporting & Analytics
- Compile HR dashboards and reports
- Track metrics such as turnover, absenteeism, and recruitment performance
- Provide insights to support business decisions
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or related field
Experience
- Minimum 2+ yearsβ experience in an HR generalist role
- Experience with HR systems and payroll coordination
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of South African labour laws
- Knowledge of HR best practices and compliance frameworks
- Ability to manage multiple HR functions effectively
