Job Overview
The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources is inviting qualifying graduates to apply for its 2026/2028 Internship Programme.
Successful applicants will gain practical work experience in specialised fields while working within the departmentβs Pretoria Head Office. Interns will be required to arrange their own transport and accommodation for the duration of the programme.
Available opportunities include Investment Promotion and Petroleum Compliance and Enforcement.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist departmental teams with daily administrative and project duties.
- Support research, reporting and data collection activities.
- Participate in policy, compliance and investment-related projects.
- Attend meetings, training sessions and workplace development programmes.
- Prepare and maintain records, reports and supporting documentation.
- Work closely with supervisors and departmental staff to gain practical experience.

Applicants must have a Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Arts qualification in one of the following:
- Economics
- Finance
- Investment Management
- International Business
- Business Management
- Public Policy Research

Applicants must have a National Diploma or Degree in one of the following:
- Legal Assistance
- B Juris
- B Proc
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB)
Experience
- No previous work experience is required.
- Applicants who have participated in a previous government internship programme will not be considered.
