Job Overview

Mama Shelter Cape Town is seeking an experienced Executive Housekeeper to lead the housekeeping function and maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest comfort.

This senior hospitality role is responsible for overseeing daily housekeeping operations, leading and developing the housekeeping team, controlling inventory and costs, and ensuring exceptional guest satisfaction across rooms and public spaces.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation of guest rooms and public areas
• Maintain brand presentation standards and guest comfort levels
• Lead, train, motivate, and manage the housekeeping team
• Create efficient room assignment, scheduling, and workflow processes
• Conduct inspections to ensure quality and compliance with SOPs
• Coordinate closely with Front Office and Maintenance teams
• Manage linen, uniforms, and cleaning supply inventory
• Monitor operational costs and housekeeping budgets
• Handle guest requests and housekeeping-related concerns promptly
• Ensure compliance with health, hygiene, and safety standards
• Support pre-opening activities if required
• Maintain high guest satisfaction and service standards

Qualifications

Education

• Formal hospitality qualification is advantageous but not mandatory

Experience

• Strong housekeeping experience within hospitality is required
• Experience in lifestyle, boutique, or luxury hotels is highly advantageous
• Pre-opening hotel experience is a strong advantage
