We are recruiting a highly motivated Officer Employee Engagement to join our dynamic People team. This role will play a key part in fostering employee engagement, internal communication, and a high-trust, positive culture that aligns with our values of safety, performance, innovation, and care.


πŸ‘€ About the Role

As an Officer: Employee Engagement, you will support the planning, creation, and implementation of communication and engagement initiatives that inform, inspire, and connect employees. From internal campaigns to recognition days and wellness events, this role is central to promoting a workplace culture where everyone feels heard and valued.

You’ll work across multiple formats and platforms β€” including multimedia, social media, noticeboards, email, and Microsoft Teams β€” to ensure impactful, timely messaging and two-way communication across shifts and departments.


πŸ› οΈ Key Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, coordination, and execution of internal engagement activities and campaigns.

  • Create content for internal communications (emails, posters, presentations, newsletters).

  • Drive messaging across digital platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and SharePoint.

  • Collect, interpret, and report on employee engagement data and feedback.

  • Assist in the delivery of communication during safety updates or crisis messaging.

  • Support the facilitation of recognition events, toolbox talks, wellness days, and staff feedback sessions.

  • Collaborate with HR and line management to ensure communication compliance and consistency.

  • Build strong working relationships with stakeholders to ensure cultural relevance in messaging.

  • Participate in communication sessions during all shifts β€” including outside normal hours, if needed.


πŸ“š Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent.

  • Diploma or Degree in Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Human Resources, or a related field.

  • At least 3 years’ experience in communications and/or employee engagement (preferably HR-related).

  • Must be declared medically fit for duty in a mining environment.

  • Proven track record of safe work delivery.

  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.

  • Proactive and deadline-driven with strong organizational abilities.

  • Confident in handling pressure, managing conflict, and coordinating across departments.

  • Understanding of employee engagement principles and campaign execution.

  • High digital proficiency: PowerPoint, Canva, Adobe, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint.

  • Familiarity with running internal polls, suggestion boxes, and data analysis for engagement tracking.
