Job Overview

The Production Learnership 2026 is a structured training opportunity designed for young South Africans who have completed Grade 12 and are interested in pursuing a career in steel manufacturing. Successful candidates will be trained as Process Operators within ArcelorMittal South Africa’s Vanderbijlpark operations.

The learnership runs over 36 months and follows an outcome-based training model that combines classroom learning with practical, on-the-job experience. While permanent employment is not guaranteed upon completion, learners will gain valuable industry-recognised skills and exposure within a world-class manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities

• Participate actively in institutional training and workplace-based learning
• Learn and apply steel manufacturing and production processes
• Operate machinery and equipment under supervision
• Adhere strictly to safety, health, and environmental standards
• Complete assessments, tests, and progress evaluations as required
• Maintain discipline, punctuality, and professional conduct throughout the programme


Qualifications

Education

• Grade 12 certificate with the following minimum results:
– English: 45%
– Mathematics: 40% or Mathematics Literacy: 50%

Experience

• No prior work experience required
• Must be willing to undergo intensive technical training

Skills

• Strong interest in manufacturing and engineering environments
• Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Physical fitness suitable for industrial work
• Commitment to learning and self-development
