Job Overview

JBT Marel South Africa is seeking a Production Manager & RCI Owner to oversee workshop operations in Cape Town and drive Relentless Continuous Improvement (RCI) initiatives.

This role combines operational leadership with strategic improvement responsibilities, ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality manufacturing processes while aligning with global corporate standards. The successful candidate will manage production, lead teams, and champion continuous improvement across all operations.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Management

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute manufacturing projects with cross-functional teams
  • Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Procurement, and Management teams
  • Oversee daily workshop operations and ensure quality standards are met
  • Manage contract labour and support aftermarket project execution
  • Provide regular reporting on project performance and timelines

Financial Management

  • Lead annual budget planning including maintenance, CAPEX, and workforce needs
  • Monitor and control operational costs to ensure budget compliance

Relentless Continuous Improvement (RCI)

  • Own and drive RCI strategy and execution across South Africa operations
  • Align local initiatives with global corporate standards
  • Report on RCI performance metrics and outcomes
  • Promote a continuous improvement culture within the workshop

Human Resources & Leadership

  • Manage a team of full-time employees and contract workers
  • Conduct performance management, goal setting, and reviews
  • Oversee discipline, compliance, and workforce development

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Ensure strict adherence to safety standards and zero-incident culture
  • Conduct risk assessments and enforce PPE compliance
  • Drive HSE training and preventative maintenance initiatives

Building Maintenance & Security

  • Oversee facility operations, maintenance, and security
  • Manage company assets including vehicles and equipment

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial Engineering)

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven project management experience or certification
  • Experience with ASME standards (advantageous)

Skills

  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities
  • Project management and operational planning skills
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality control
  • Financial management and budgeting expertise
  • Continuous improvement and process optimisation skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
