Job Overview
BIC World is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee high-speed FMCG manufacturing operations in Johannesburg. The role focuses on ensuring production targets are achieved across safety, quality, cost, and delivery metrics while driving continuous improvement on the shop floor.
The successful candidate will lead production teams, optimise processes, and ensure strict compliance with GMP, ISO standards, and operational procedures in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Operations Management
- Supervise daily production activities to meet safety, quality, and output targets
- Plan and execute production schedules according to demand and resources
- Ensure adherence to Standard Production Methods (SPM) and SOPs
- Monitor efficiency, output, and productivity (OEE, downtime, waste)
- Ensure accurate production reporting and documentation
People Leadership
- Lead, coach, and motivate production teams on the shop floor
- Manage shift handovers, attendance, and workforce planning
- Conduct on-the-job training and support skills development
- Maintain strong communication across departments
Quality Management (ISO 9001)
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and customer requirements
- Maintain product traceability and accurate labelling
- Support audits and corrective action processes
- Manage non-conforming product and escalation procedures
Environmental Management (ISO 14001)
- Ensure compliance with environmental standards
- Promote waste reduction and sustainable practices
- Support environmental audits and improvement initiatives
Continuous Improvement
- Drive Lean, Six Sigma, and Root Cause Analysis initiatives
- Identify inefficiencies and implement corrective actions
- Improve KPIs such as OEE, scrap rates, and productivity
Safety, Health & Housekeeping
- Enforce PPE usage and safety compliance at all times
- Maintain 5S and housekeeping standards
- Report and resolve safety hazards and incidents
Systems & Reporting
- Use ERP systems (e.g. SAP/JDE) for production tracking
- Maintain accurate operational and performance reports
- Coordinate with maintenance, quality, and logistics teams
Qualifications
Education
- National Diploma or Degree (NQF Level 5–6) in:
- Production Management
- Operations Management
- Industrial Engineering
- Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
- Manufacturing Management
- Trade test with supervisory experience may be considered
Experience
- 2–5 years in FMCG or high-volume manufacturing environments
- Experience as a Production Supervisor, Line Leader, or Senior Operator
- Exposure to high-speed production lines and shift operations
Skills
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- KPI and performance monitoring (OEE, waste, downtime)
- Knowledge of GMP, SOPs, ISO 9001 & ISO 14001
- Problem-solving and analytical thinking
- Strong communication and reporting skills
- ERP system proficiency (SAP, JDE, or similar)
- Computer literacy (Excel, reporting tools)
