JOB OVERVIEW

The Professional Nurse works collaboratively with a multi-professional team to deliver comprehensive, safe, and high-quality nursing care. This role also involves leading and coordinating nursing teams to optimize patient care, ensuring a positive experience for all patients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Deliver quality nursing care according to professional scope of practice.

• Identify, prevent, and manage risks to ensure patient safety.

• Facilitate a positive client experience through a conducive care environment.

• Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.

• Support staff development and create a learning environment to build competence.

• Ensure all stock and equipment used are accurately charted and managed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential Education

• Diploma leading to registration as a General Nurse OR

• 4-year Nursing Diploma / Bachelor of Nursing

Desired Education

• Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Midwifery

• Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (Critical Care, Emergency Care, Perioperative Nursing) for specialist units

• Basic Life Support trained (ACLS, ATLS, PALS for specialised wards)

• Computer literate (Microsoft Office)

• Patient assessment skills

• Pharmacology knowledge

• Awareness of relevant nursing legislation

• Ability to identify and manage risks
