π§Ύ JOB OVERVIEW
The Admin Clerk / Receptionist will manage the receiving, registering, and distribution of patient samples, ensuring accurate information capture and timely processing. The role includes administrative and reception duties, handling patient and client queries, and supporting laboratory operations in line with standard operating procedures.
This position is suitable for candidates who are organized, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
π KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Administer sorting and distribution of samples according to SOPs to prioritise specimens for laboratories

Register and log samples accurately, handle queries, and ensure timely processing
-
Dispatch specimens to labs, monitor progress, and manage report filing
-
Conduct hospital rounds to distribute reports and collect samples
-
Track courier deliveries and resolve any delays in specimen processing
-
Investigate pre-analytical process bottlenecks and implement corrective actions
-
Maintain housekeeping in work area and prepare equipment according to SOPs
-
Monitor stock levels, order materials, and deliver stock to doctorsβ rooms
-
Provide excellent customer service to patients, medical professionals, and staff
-
Manage reception area, direct clients, and handle cash banking per SOPs
-
Scan patient forms into laboratory systems (Oculus) and resolve scanning issues

Adhere to Lancet uniform and operational protocols
π QUALIFICATIONS
Education
-
Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 (BSc Degree advantageous)
Experience

0β1 year relevant administrative experience
