Job Overview

The Senior Software Engineer II is a technical leadership role responsible for designing scalable, high-quality software solutions while mentoring engineering teams and influencing best practices.

This role requires deep expertise in software engineering, architecture, and system design, combined with strong business alignment and stakeholder collaboration. You will play a key role in shaping product direction, improving system reliability, and driving engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Solution Design

Design and implement scalable, high-quality solutions for complex systems
Lead development of major features and system components
Contribute to architecture decisions and system design reviews
Drive coding standards, testing practices, and engineering excellence

Stakeholder Collaboration & Business Alignment

Translate business requirements into technical solutions
Work closely with Product and Design teams to shape product direction
Communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Technical Debt & System Reliability

Identify and manage technical debt proactively
Ensure systems are reliable with proper monitoring and alerting
Lead incident resolution, root cause analysis, and postmortems

Mentorship & Team Development

Mentor and coach engineers to improve technical and soft skills
Provide guidance through code reviews and technical discussions
Support team decision-making and conflict resolution

Operational Excellence

Ensure high standards of system performance, scalability, and reliability
Promote automation and efficient engineering processes
Improve operational practices and reduce system downtime

Qualifications

Education

Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Experience

Minimum 8+ years in software engineering
Strong experience with distributed, high-volume systems
Experience with cloud infrastructure and modern engineering practices

Skills

Proficiency in multiple programming languages and frameworks
Strong system design and architecture expertise
Experience with performance optimisation and scalable systems
Solid understanding of software development lifecycle and best practices
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
