Purpose of the Position: This role entails delivering comprehensive social work services, assessing the needs of sex workers, and implementing tailored interventions and processes to address those needs.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Social Work or B Social Science Degree from a four-year college or university
- Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience within key populations
- SACSSP (South African Council for Social Service Professions) registration
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Proficiency in English and IsiZulu languages
- Valid code 8 driver’s license
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide psychosocial support and counseling services to sex workers
- Offer individual and group counseling to the families of sex workers
- Collaborate closely with Case Manager to provide holistic support
- Facilitate harm reduction group sessions, individual sessions, and family co-joint sessions
- Educate clients and their families on harm reduction and related issues
- Follow up on referrals regarding psychosocial and emotional needs of clients
- Network with relevant stakeholders and implement an effective referral system
- Provide treatment adherence support for sex workers
- Design training modules
- Record and maintain accurate and detailed client information and interventions
- Monthly reporting
- Link clients to housing, shelters, safe spaces, and other government facilities
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings
- Work within the ethical framework and scope of practice of the social work profession
