Job Overview
The Tipper Operator plays a key role in the blending and production process by ensuring accurate handling, measurement, and transfer of raw materials into mixing systems. The role requires strict adherence to recipes, safety standards, and quality procedures to maintain product consistency and traceability within the production line.
This position is suited to individuals who are detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process raw materials for blending operations
- Open drums and safely load materials onto conveyors
- Tip and decant materials into designated mixing equipment using hoists
- Ensure accurate quantities are used according to production recipes
- Maintain cleanliness of crushers, blending equipment, and work areas
- Monitor blending processes and identify deviations or abnormalities
- Record batch numbers for traceability and quality control
- Seal and manage used containers and report waste materials
- Follow standard operating procedures for mixing sequences
- Assist with cleaning and stacking of empty drums and materials
- Support housekeeping and safety compliance in the production area
- Report faulty or non-conforming raw materials to supervisors
- Participate in safety and operational improvement activities
Qualifications
Education
- Grade 12 / Matric required
Experience
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment is advantageous
- Exposure to food processing or blending operations is beneficial
Skills
- Understanding of GMP, HACCP, BRC, and food safety standards
- Strong attention to detail and quality awareness
- Ability to follow SOPs and production recipes accurately
- Basic record-keeping and batch tracking ability
- Knowledge of MSDS and chemical/material handling procedures
- Ability to work under pressure and meet production targets
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Willingness to work overtime, shifts, and weekends when required
