Role Overview
The Agronomist provides specialist agronomic and crop nutrition expertise to farming enterprises, supporting customers in maximising crop yield, quality, and profitability through tailored fertilisation and crop management solutions. The role works closely with customers, Omnia representatives, agents, and Regional Management to deliver value-added agricultural solutions aligned with Omnia Agriculture's Nutriology® approach and business objectives.
Responsibilities
Agronomic Advisory Services
Provide professional fertilisation and agronomic recommendations to farming enterprises.
Develop customised crop nutrition programmes based on soil, crop, and environmental conditions.
Support customers in improving crop productivity, yield, and quality through effective agronomic practices.
Interpret soil and crop data to provide accurate and practical recommendations.
Technical Support
Provide strategic agronomic support to Omnia representatives and agents.
Assist customers with technical product information and application recommendations.
Support the implementation and monitoring of crop nutrition and fertilisation programmes.
Resolve agronomic challenges through science-based and commercially viable solutions.
Stakeholder Engagement
Work closely with Regional Management to support business objectives and customer requirements.
Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers, agricultural businesses, cooperatives, and industry stakeholders.
Collaborate with commercial and technical teams to deliver integrated customer solutions.
Act as a trusted agronomic advisor to customers and partners.
Marketing & Business Development
Function as an integral part of the Omnia Marketing model.
Support customer engagement initiatives, field days, demonstrations, and agricultural events.
Identify opportunities to strengthen customer relationships and expand market share.
Provide market feedback and agronomic insights to support business growth and product development.
Requirements
Qualifications
Matric / Grade 12
BSc in Agronomy and Soil Science
Experience
Minimum 5 years' experience in Agronomy
Previous experience in agricultural advisory services, crop production, crop nutrition, or related agricultural fields will be advantageous
