The Lead Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer will provide technical leadership and engineering support for all control, instrumentation, automation and process control systems associated with the EPCM Mine Project.
The role is responsible for ensuring that all control and instrumentation systems are designed, procured, installed, commissioned, and handed over safely, efficiently and in accordance with project specifications, engineering standards and operational requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Electronic, Control or Instrumentation Engineering.
Professional registration with ECSA or an equivalent professional body will be advantageous.
Valid passport and ability to travel internationally.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 10 - 12 years of experience in Control and Instrumentation engineering.
Experience within mining, minerals processing or heavy industrial projects.
Experience in EPCM and project delivery environments.
Exposure to greenfield and brownfield projects.
Experience in construction, commissioning and operational readiness activities.
Experience with PLC, SCADA and DCS platforms.
Platinum, base metals or process plant experience will be advantageous.

The Lead Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer shall report directly to the Project Manager: Concentrator and will work closely with the Project Office, Engineering Consultants, Construction Team, Commissioning Team, Operations personnel, contractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
The incumbent will be responsible for providing specialist control and instrumentation engineering support throughout the project lifecycle while providing regular progress updates and technical recommendations to the Project Manager: Concentrator. The role will ensure effective integration of all control, instrumentation and automation systems to achieve the approved project scope, schedule, budget, quality and safety objectives.
POSITION LOCATION
The position shall be primarily based in Bryanston, Johannesburg, South Africa, with travel to the Mine site in Zimbabwe as required to support engineering, construction, commissioning and operational readiness activities.
During plant commissioning, this role will be required to be on site to oversee commissioning (C1-C5) activities within their areas of responsibility.
Travel requirements will vary depending on project phases and operational requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Engineering & Design
Develop and review C&I engineering deliverables.
Review control philosophies and functional design specifications.
Review P&IDs and instrumentation requirements.
Review instrument datasheets and specifications.
Review PLC, SCADA and DCS system architecture.
Provide technical input into automation and process control systems.
Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards and project requirements.
Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews.
Procurement Support
Prepare and review technical specifications.
Evaluate technical bids and vendor submissions.
Review supplier documentation and drawings.
Support equipment selection and procurement activities.
Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) where required.
Construction Support
Provide technical support during construction activities.
Resolve site engineering queries.
Conduct site inspections and quality assessments.
Verify installation compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
Support contractor management and coordination.
Commissioning & Start-Up
Support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities (on-site).
Participate in loop checks, instrument calibration and control system testing.
Support PLC, SCADA and DCS commissioning.
Assist with integrated plant commissioning.
Support operational readiness and plant handover.
Safety & Compliance
Promote a strong safety culture.
Participate in HAZOP studies, risk assessments and safety reviews.
Ensure compliance with project safety standards, statutory requirements and company procedures.
Support management of change (MOC) processes.
