PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Provides an engineering technical service to a section at a Business Area. The fitter is responsible for maintaining, installing and commissioning engineering components of the machinery and equipment to an agreed standard in the area of responsibility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Grade 12 /STD 10 or NQF 4 is essential.

Trade Certificate, with proof of training is required.

3 years' Underground Fitter experience in a trackless mining environment is required.

3 years' experience as Conveyor Belt Maintenance is required.

3 years' experience Chairlift Maintenance is required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides input to the planning process within the area of control and executes the approved plan in accordance with policies, procedures and processes to ensure achievement of production targets.

Implements maintenance schedules.

Makes materials and equipment available for the shift requirements.

Approves inspection orders.

Compiles work priority list and determine resource requirements.

Completes and approves allocated work orders.

Completes planned maintenance schedules for stock items required.

Coaches employees to ensure knowledge transfer and skills development.

Ensures effective teamwork by establishing interaction between team members.

Advise management on business improvements initiatives identified.

Provides relevant support to stakeholders to ensure team objectives are achieved.

Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.

Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment is safety and hazard free and recommends remedial action where necessary.
