PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To supervise and assist the team in the safe and cost-effective execution of all mechanical maintenance work
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Grade 12/NQF Level 4 equivalent is essential.
Mechanical Trade Certificate is essential.
Minimum of 3 years as an Artisan is essential.
COMPETENCIES:
MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Read, interpret and produce basic engineering drawings
Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to basic health and safety principles in a workplace
Identify engineering materials, their characteristics and applications and common metal tests used in engineering
Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of hydraulics
Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of pneumatics
Demonstrate knowledge of Problem-Solving techniques
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Supervises mechanical maintenance activities.
Guides and assists with daily maintenance and construction activities.
Directs Artisans according to emergency priorities submitted by production personnel.
Stays informed on the latest technology for application or replacement of present systems, equipment, technology and divulge the necessary information to personnel.
Meets regularly with employees to analyse problems and maintains a healthy service and relationship between personnel and with clients.
Reports to Section Superintendent on all activities and problem areas.
Attends to callouts with regards to mechanical breakdowns.
Maintains control of Monitoring workshop and stores.
Designs basic mechanical components, pneumatic and hydraulic circuits.
Diagnoses and repairs faults on equipment and machinery during production/operation.
Writes technical reports.
Supports and participates in change management initiatives to drive transformation and optimisation.
Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.
Provides relevant support to stakeholders to ensure team objectives are achieved.
