Job Overview
The Horticulture Learnership Programme (NQF Level 2) provides unemployed South African youth with structured theoretical training and practical exposure in plant production and site maintenance. The programme is designed to develop foundational horticultural skills within operational environments such as Rietvlei.
Learners will combine classroom-based instruction with hands-on site work to build competence in plant care, soil preparation, irrigation systems, and horticultural operations.
Key Responsibilities

Assist with maintenance of horticultural and plant production sites.

Monitor plant growth and overall plant health conditions.

Perform soil preparation, planting, and propagation activities.

Support irrigation system maintenance and watering processes.

Maintain horticultural tools and equipment.

Attend structured classes and actively participate in learning sessions.

Complete assignments, projects, and required assessments.

Maintain and submit a practical logbook for evaluation.
Qualifications
Education

Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy and Life Science (minimum Level 3 in all subjects).

SAQA / NLRD verification report (mandatory).
Experience

Must be unemployed.

Must not be registered for any qualification or learnership programme.

Must not possess a completed post-matric qualification.

Must be between 18 and 35 years old.
Skills
